    Description

12x15 Ludwig marching snare drum in fair to good condition. This drum spent most of its life in an Ohio elementary school marching band so it shows considerable use.
    The
    good:
Drum is solid, the shell is in good condition, bearing edges are good.
    The
    bad:
The chrome steel wrap is in fair condition, it has many scratches and worn areas. The top and bottom hoops are original but have some rust and missing chrome in some places. The tension rods all look to be original except for two which are replacements. This drum originally had the P87 strainer which is gone, in its place is a P85 which is broken, and the standard butt end. The top head is useable but the bottom head and snares are missing. The blue/olive badge is bent as well but is original, just needs some work. The drum had a lug replaced with a Yamaha lug, so there is one extra hole shown in the pictures and the holes for that lug have been slightly enlarged. I have replaced the Yamaha lug with a period correct Ludwig lug, but the drum is missing three mounting screws. See pics for all details. There is an extra hole for the replacement strainer as well.
    The fun part:
The drum needs a few things that can be found if you want to put the effort into finding them to put
it back to factory, or can be used as is with a new bottom head and snares which can be found at any drum shop. This could be a fun summer project to get it back to its former glory, or it can be a parts drum. The drum is heavy so shipping will be a bit expensive, it ships in an 18x18x16 box and weighs 16 lbs 4oz. It will be packed securely. This drum was Ludwig’s flagship in 1980 (it has the riveted seam, so that dates is to 1980-81) and that kind of quality needs to see the light of day again, so spend a little or a lot, but get this drum back on the field where it belongs. Right now the drum is sad but with a few parts it could be out in front driving the band again where it belongs. Shipping is an estimate, I’ll get an accurate quote based on distance, it could be much much less than the price listed.
