Description

A rare 1937 Leedy Broadway Parallel snare drum, 8 by 14. 8 lugs with chrome hardware, somewhat uncommon in the 1930s. Has the 3rd version of the Broadway Parallel strainer, with a fixed lever arm and large adjustment knobs. Box/X lug casings, and t
he tension rods are 10-24 thread.
Very good condition as shown. This drum has been refinished in a cream and gold fade, Duco style. All parts are original except the heads and the felt on the muffler. Minor wear on the chrome in places, notable some scratching on the strainer knobs. All threads are good.
1-ply maple shell. Original bearing edges are flawless, no ply or ring separation, shell is in round and fits modern heads easily. The strainer is smooth, throws off completely and does not slip at all. The original snare wires are in excellent condition and complete, which is extremely rare to find.
This drum has a somewhat limited tuning range due to its size, but what it's capable of, it does really well. Sounds superb tuned low, lots of body and the wires are surprisingly sensitive. With hardware that works so well, this is a 100% giggable 1930s drum.
