    Drums and Percussion
1970s era Pearl Chrome over Steel 14" Snare drum. Drum has been cleaned, and polished, and treated with protectant, but some patina still remains...though you may have to look close. There are some scratches, some pitting of the chrome, and some wear on the outer surfaces of some of the lugs, but generally, this snare cleaned up nice and looks great, especially for its age. It is mechanically sound, has new batter and resonant heads, and is one of the best sounding steel snares I have owned. Minimal ring, very crisp, and muffler works to tame appropriately. This is a great snare to add to your collection. It has some cosmetic flaws, but overall, it is a solid performer that still shines. This snare is similar to the snare drum that Stuart Copeland played in the late 70s. Stewart played a 5x14 Chrome over Brass Snare, most likely the 4214 or 4514 model from 1979 or 1980, whereas this is a 14x5 Chrome over Steel, most likely the 4414 "Deluxe Snare" model, as it has 2 center beads instead of 3 in the Custom Chrome over Brass snares that would have been used by Stewart. This has a comparable sound, so if you like that Copeland snare sound, this might be as close as you can find (especially considering the price).
