Description
This is a rare and near perfect example of one of the best sounding, most highly coveted by professional drummers, and most collectible snare drums ever made.5 1/2 x 14
PRE SERIAL NUMBERS KEYSTONE BADGE SNARE drum pre-supraphonic made 1958-1962. The most desirable of all Super-400-Supraphonics.
At 60+ years old- I defy you to find a nicer one anywhere! It's that good. A wonderful investment!
Correct and original Remo Ambassador heads (top has light stick marks), red felt baseball bat muffler, script logo throw off and snare anchor, and script logo snare wires. Chrome over brass hoops and shell.
My shipping scale weighs the drum at 8 lbs 8.5 oz. All of these brass drums must weigh at least 8 and 1/2 pounds to be authentic.
No rust or pitting anywhere. It's right as rain!!
Given the near pristine condition and originality of this specific drum I'd say if it were a poker hand- you'd have the nuts!!
FYI
The snare beds on the early COB brass shells (60-63) are crimped into place rather than the wide gradual (barely visible) beds on the later drums. The flange that makes the bearing edge was formed differently on these drums. The brass used on the earlier shells was a bit thicker as well. Additionally, besides the COB hoops they all originally had, the lugs were made of a thicker casting.
All of these things play a part in the sound of the Super Ludwig (the PRECURSOR and actual name of the early chrome over brass shelled supra/ Super 400/Supraphonic).
I will pack this SAFELY and send with delivery confirmation. Bidders with Any negative or less than 100 positive feedback need to contact me before bidding. I'm not giving up my precious to a scammer-I know how to protect myself and I'll prosecute anyone who tries.
Local pick up is ok with ca$h preferred.
Thank you for looking!
I hate to have to part with this drum.
